Waltham Forest Neighbourhood Photography Walks

  • Leytonstone Library (meet in foyer) 6 Church Lane London E11 1HG (map)

See your neighbourhood through a different lens. Join guided walks to explore your neighbourhood, meet local people and capture the area.

Join one of Waltham Forest Giving's free Photography Walks this September, led by Mindful Mavericks, a community organisation that helps reduce social isolation, improve digital skills, and strengthen local connections.

These relaxed guided walks are an opportunity to explore your neighbourhood, meet local people and capture the places, communities and relationships that make Waltham Forest special. Whether you're passionate about photography or simply enjoy walking and spending time outdoors, everyone is welcome.

As we walk together, we'll take time to pause, notice our surroundings and have informal conversations about what makes your neighbourhood a great place to live and what could make it even better.

The photographs, stories and conversations collected during the walks will help celebrate our borough, feature on the new Waltham Forest Giving website and contribute to future neighbourhood conversations that help shape local priorities.

What to expect

  • A relaxed guided walk of around 5,000 steps (approximately 90 minutes) through local parks, streets and community spaces.

  • Simple photography activities using your smartphone or camera. No previous experience needed.

  • Opportunities to meet local people and share your experiences of living in Waltham Forest.

  • Time for refreshments and informal conversation after the walk.

About Waltham Forest Giving

Waltham Forest Giving brings together people, organisations and resources to strengthen communities across the borough. Through our programme, we're creating opportunities for residents to share their experiences, build connections and help shape the future of their neighbourhoods.

We believe everyone has something to give. Whether it's your time, your perspective or your local knowledge, these walks are a chance to share what makes your neighbourhood unique and help shape its future.

About Mindful Mavericks

Mindful Mavericks CIC is a community organisation dedicated to tackling social isolation, building digital skills, and fostering local connection. We host accessible, relaxed initiatives from practical digital and photography workshops to wellbeing walks that bring local people together to learn new skills, boost their confidence, and take time out for themselves.

We believe that everyone in our borough has a unique perspective and something valuable to share. By combining everyday activities like walking and smartphone photography with open, friendly conversation, we create supportive spaces where residents can connect with their surroundings and shape a stronger, more inclusive community.

After booking, please let us know if you can no longer come, as we can give your space to someone else. Thank you.
